THE FOLLOWING CAT IS BEING CARED FOR IN A LOVING MCR FOSTER HOME.

Don't let his grumpy face fool you! Jefferson is the sweetest, friendliest boy around! He is really laid back. In the beginning, he acted like he couldn't care less if you pet him or not. That was just an act! He loves to be petted and snuggled. You can tell in his photos the difference between him now and when he was still in the shelter. He has blossomed since he came into foster care. He will continue to do so!

Jefferson came to us because his previous owner left him and a lot of other cats behind. Many of the cats were being killed by neighborhood dogs. Can you imagine this boy as a street cat? Looking at him I can tell he had to act tough to survive, but he is a lover through and through. We are so thankful and lucky for a kind neighbor who reached out to us for help.

I haven't dog tested him but I think he would be just fine with a cool dog for a housemate. Jefferson is such a gentle, loving cat. I've been having to treat his hips and back down near his tail for a flea allergy. He doesn't like it of course, but he doesn't fight me. This flea allergy caused lots of tiny scabs on his skin. They couldn't be seen, but when I petted him I felt hundreds of them. I have treated him with Brevecto topical, and I'm treating the remaining scabs with a wound spray. He seems to be healing well! It has to be so itchy for him so I scratch the areas for him. He really likes that, but most cats like their back and booty scratched! He has had a lot of mats in his coat which I've been getting rid of for him. He lets me do this without complaints, but we do a little at a time and go slow. The worst mats were on his chest area and seemed to be oily. If I had to guess, I'd say it's from laying around on roadways where there was oil leakage. It was like one huge patch of small, tight mats very close to the skin. While I did have to shave these out, he does not need to be shaved completely. He was kind of twitching his tail but didn't get overly upset. His coat is a nice texture, and as long as you keep him brushed he will be just fine. His hair isn't super soft, but just has a nice texture that will be easy to keep free of mats. I think it's mostly from where he was outside for so long and he became unkempt. I don't think mats will be a problem once he is in a nice indoor home with proper care. His tail isn't the fluffiest thing right now, and it may never get fuller. We really just don't know but we hope it does. He has fluffy shorts which you can see in the pics of him pawing the glass. I have a French door leading from the foster room into the living room. He loves to paw the glass and beg to be let out! He paws and looks at me as if to say, " Hey! Lemme outta here man!" I try to explain that my personal cat just won't let that happen.

Jefferson has finally started playing with toys a little. It's like he didn't know what they were for a long time. He likes to lay on his back all floppy and sleep. When he sits and stares at me, I feel as if he is looking into my soul. Sometimes I feel he is an old soul and I wonder what he is thinking. Even my husband said at first he thought he looked "sketchy" hahaha but he just has a grumpy look on his face. This cat is so chill and rolls with anything that comes his way. He is the first to jump down to greet me every time. He is a softie inside. He is great with the other cats in his foster space. He likes a little wet food from time to time. He isn't pushy and doesn't beg for attention. His gentle and unassuming nature is perfect for any home.
